Pathway
The Performance Pathway Program is designed for athletes under 18, aiming to nurture their talents through a structured tier system. From SASI and full-time beach volleyball athletes to select talented players, this program offers access to experienced coaches and top-notch facilities, all with the goal of achieving Olympic success.
The Performance Pathway in SA is an aligned structure from Emerging to Elite athletes. The pathway is designed by Volleyball Australia, South Australian Sports Institute (SASI) and Volleyball South Australia (VSA) to identify, develop and nurture young athletes holistically so they can aspire to compete at national and international levels in beach and indoor volleyball.
Athletes within the Performance Pathway have access to experienced coaches, as well as fantastic facilities and resources, provided by SASI, VSA and Volleyball Australia. The South Australian Athlete Pathway is designed to provide a unified, visible and and sustainable pathway so athletes can compete for South Australia, and work towards entry to the National Centre of Excellence (Developing Volleyroos), with objectives of Olympic podium success.
The SA Pathway was established to:
- Create links to schools, clubs, South Australia Beach Volleyball Series (SABVS) and lifelong involvement in volleyball.
- Developing each individual as an athlete and person. Building fundamental skills and high performance behaviours into proficiencies that lead to successful representation within South Australian and National Beach and Indoor Volleyball teams, if selected.
- Progress selected athletes from the Emerging Talent Centres, into the Development and Performance Training Squads, into the SASI and/or Volleyball Australia High Performance programs.
