Our PeopleVolleyball announces nationwide commitment to Child Safety
Volleyball Australia, in partnership with State and Territory Volleyball Organisations, has formally announced its commitment to child safety.
The Volleyball Australia Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy has been adopted by the national and all state and territory bodies and forms a key component of the broader National Integrity Framework.
“This framework establishes a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse and neglect in any form, prioritising the well-being of children in volleyball by fostering a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment,” said Andrew Dee, Volleyball Australia CEO.
"The National Child Safety Commitment Statement is a crucial step forward in reinforcing our dedication to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for every young person in our community. We're serious about child safety, and we are looking forward to working with Volleyball Australia and our friends in the states and territories to ensure child safety continues to be a top priority.", said Karla Della Pietra, CEO Volleyball South Australia.
The Policy is underpinned by four key elements:
- Unwavering Commitment to Child Safety
- Inclusive and Respectful Environment
- Clear Expectations and Training
- Engagement and Reporting
The Policy will be delivered by stringent procedures to establish and maintain a child-safe culture both on and off the court.
It will involve staff and volunteers remaining well-informed about their roles and expected behaviours concerning child safety, supported by thorough induction, ongoing training and clear guidelines which ensure for child-safe practices.
