16 January 2024
Performance Our PeopleIt is with a heavy heart, and great pride that we say goodbye to Joey Yigit, as our Performance Pathways Head Coach - Performance and Talent.
We are pleased to share that Joey will be taking a new step in his coaching career with Volleyball Australia as the National Development Assistant Coach – Men’s Beach Volleyball. Joey has said "to accept [this role] means I am staying true to myself, and that I am demonstrating that Volleyball South Australia and our Pathway are impactful for both athletes and coaches." The National Development Men's Beach Volleyball Program is based at the South Australian Sports Institute, Adelaide, developing athletes with the goal of a Gold Medal at the 2032 Olympic Games.
From joining the SA Performance Pathway team 1.5 years ago, Joey has played a monumental role in shaping the evolving Pathway to what it is now. Reflecting on this time, Joey has said "although significant progress has been made in evolving the SA Performance Pathway into the best in Australia and achieving sustainability, this change has come rapidly and has only allowed me to see this project to the trajectory of success it is on." Joey's dedication, expertise, and unwavering support has not only shaped the pathway as a program, but showed an incredible, positive impact on each and every athlete he has had the pleasure of working with.
Joey's commitment to excellence and ability to go above and beyond has not only elevated our team, but have inspired us all.
Volleyball SA thank Joey, for the incredible contributions made as a member of our team, and wish him all the best in his endeavours!
