Australian Women's Volleyball Team selection!
19 August 2023
Performance Our PeopleVolleyball South Australia is incredibly proud to congratulate South Australians Beth Carey, Stef Weiler, Tara Maland and Charlotte White on their Australian National Team selection. They are representing Australia in the VTV Cup held in Vietnam this week, followed by the 22nd Asian Senior Women's Volleyball Championships held in Thailand at the end of the month.
We had the opportunity to catch up with Volleyroos rookie, Charlotte White, and veteran Beth Carey to hear how they are feeling leading into the tournament. Upon her selection, Charlotte has said,"being selected in a National Team, with a roster of 14 players, is a fantastic opportunity and honor for any athlete. The pride of playing for your country is second to none and what we work so hard for. It’s a great opportunity to be surrounded by experienced athletes and an eye opener to international playing styles."
As Beth prepares for her first trip back with the Volleyroos since early 2020, she told us, "it's always exciting to be back on tour, and having the opportunity to play high level volleyball. I love seeing the drive and passion in my teammates that comes with representing the country and loving the sport we play and I look forward to taking to the court tonight with this team to take on the host country's top team."
Ahead of her first Senior International game, charlotte has said "although I'm feeling a little nervous going into my first tour, I’m super keen to be challenged on and off the court. The culture of this group will forever amaze me with their drive and ability to understand. I can’t wipe the smile of my face!"
With this being the final National Team tour for the 2023 season, the team hope to challenge their competition and show how much they've improved.
Volleyball SA wishes Beth, Stef, Tara, Charlotte, and the Australian Women's National Team the best of luck in the competition!
