What is SABVS?
Unlike indoor Volleyball competitions which are played weekly, the SABVS is played on one full day every 1-2 weekends throughout the summer over 12 Rounds followed by a Final Championship. SABVS enables you to pick and choose which dates and competitions you would like to nominate in. You do not have to commit to a full season.
There are two options to play in the SA Beach Volleyball Series.
- Elite8 & Challenger Either Sundays or Saturdays unless stated otherwise, matches commence at 8am
- Futures Either Saturdays or Sundays unless stated otherwise, minimum 3 matches guaranteed with matches commence at a time to be confirmed
Elite8 / Challenger and Futures offer different divisions or age groups:
SABVS Final Championship is upgraded to 4 STAR with $1200 price pool per gender !
Elite8 & Challenger | Futures Threes |
Elite8 3 star = Performance | Under 15, 3aside = Competitive |
Challenger 3 star = Performance Challenger 2 star = Competitive | Under 15, 3aside = Beginners |
Challenger 1 star = Intermediate / Beginners | |
Challenger 0 star / Local = Beginners |
The SABVS Format
See below on how the SABVS format works. Players can nominate for any ''Futures'', ''Challenger'' or ''Elite8'' events.
Your combined individual ranking points will determine which grade you will be playing in (Elite - Challenger). You earn ranking points with every round or event you participate in. Example: If you are the first time playing a SABVS round you will start with 0 points in the lowest grade. The more rounds you play - the more matches you win - the more points you earn - the higher grades you play in your next event.
The draws can vary and will depend on the total number of nominations and court availability.
