STORM WOMEN'S HEAD COACH ANNOUNCED
9 February 2024
Performance Our People CompetitiveVolleyball SA is thrilled to announce the appointment of Rachel Orchard (née Rourke) as Head Coach of the Adelaide Storm women’s team in 2024.
Regarded as one of Australia’s greatest indoor volleyball players, Rachel played ten professional seasons internationally while competing as part of the Australian national team.
She was also recently inducted into the Hall of Fame at Oregon State University, where she set a number of records during her college career.
Joining the Adelaide Storm, Rachel will now lead South Australia’s senior representative women’s team through the 2024 Scape Australian Volleyball Super League.
Their squad has included Olympians and Australian national team members, alongside some of South Australia’s best state league players.
Rachel says the opportunity to work with some of the nation’s best volleyball players made joining the Storm an easy decision.
Rachel’s appointment comes shortly after joining Volleyball SA as Performance Pathway Head Coach, where she helps develop up-and-coming talent across the state.
Volleyball SA CEO Karla Della-Pietra says there is no one better suited to lead the Adelaide Storm to success.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have Rachel join the Storm, bringing her years of experience from the highest levels of international volleyball,” Karla says.
“As coach, she will not only help the Storm achieve further success, but also provide players with an opportunity to learn from one of the sport’s best.”
The 2024 Scape Australian Volleyball Super League begins this August, with the Adelaide Storm’s fixture to be announced.
